Wooden Plaque

I was asked to hang a wooden plaque on a wall.
There are many options that I could have used to complete this task.
Initially I wanted to drill a whole into the wall and place a nail so that I can hang up the plaque but I opted to find an alternative solution as I did not want to drill any unnecessary holes.
I however stumbled across these Oval hooks  at the hardware.

These  hooks make use of an  adhesive tape at the back of them.

The instructions indicated that the maximum loading capacity would be 3.3 lbs.
I thought these would be great for the project and have decided to try them to see how well they work.
The plaque is roughly 3 lbs in weight so I purchased the hooks and began the project.

Here are what you need and the steps to execute the following our first project
1) Oval hooks
2) wire, or nylon string.
3) staple gun
the following is a breakdown of the process followed to complete the tasks

Step 1) Clearly identify the area in which you would like to position picture or plaque.

Step 2) Peel the adhesive tape from the hook and place it firmly on the wall.

Step 3) Take the item and clearly mark the areas in which you want the wire, or sting to be postitioned on the back of the plaque. Most plaques that have been purchased in stores usually have small hooks on the back that allow for you to hang the item on the wall.

Step 4) In this case there are no hooks therefore I have decided to used a staple gun to secure the wire unto the wooden plaque. using the staple gun I have stapled the wire firmly unto the back of the plaque. (Left to Right )

Leave enough wire so that the item to be hung goes up easily but not too much play to allow the hook to be shown when the Item is hung.

Step 5) Having secured both sides place the string on the plaque gently on the hook.

Voila

We have sucessfully acompleted our first DIY project.

  1. Like this method of hanging items as the wall remains as is. Will definitely try it the next time I have to hang an item!
