Light work

So, I am outside doing yard work, and as I am just about to finish I hear “crick.” This is strange; I see water coming from the ground. My curiosity told me to dig down to see what was happening. To my surprise I see a pipe that has been broken and to my amazement, it’s the pipe that feeds water to my home. I was able to bring the pipe in full view with a little digging and assess the extent of the damage.
“Light work” I said to myself prefect for a quick DIYS project.

Tools used are as follows
1      1) Hacksaw blade
2      2) ½ inch pvc collar
3      3) 1 bottle pvc solvent

Firstly, we need to turn off the water supply that feeds to the water tank and the home by shutting off the stop valve. Then we are going prepare the area in which we intend to join together to allow the water to run into the water tank. The pvc collar is what will be used to join the two ends together.

Our next step would be to take the hack saw blade and cut the pvc pipe evenly to allow the pipe to enter into the collar flush. Once this is done on both sides, take the collar and put the two ends into the collar of the pvc pipe. Once the collar fits snug on both ends, it’s time to stick the two ends with the PVC solvent. The solvent would be applied to the two prepared ends of pvc as well as unto the pvc collar.
Quickly insert the prepared ends into the collar and hold for 30 seconds to prevent slippage.

Give an additional 15 minutes or more before the solvent has successfully bonded the two ends together. After this period, turn on the water to see of any leaks occur. Provided that everything has been done correctly you should be successful.
